- Sometimes I need more than two verses and a chorus to express myself. There are times when I have fantasised about having a column; I enjoy episodic tales and consequent observations by writers that appear regularly in the newspapers and supplements that I read. Thus far no one has offered me the requisite column inches. So, rather than wait for such an offer, I habitually write pieces. As it turns out, these pieces seem too long, deliberate and indulgent for a column, and they’re pieces I would rather no-one edited. I spend a long time on them and can’t think of them as blogs. Although they are hosted by a blog site I just don’t like the word blog. However, my discovery is that when I write about anything, I seem to be saying and learning more about myself than my chosen subject, and I like that. Also, for better or for worse, what I write can enjoy instant availability via my website. So, why not?
